‘Final steps’: Romano claims ‘incredible’ Liverpool player will join new club next week

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Liverpool striker Divock Origi.

The transfer journalist claims the Reds star’s move to AC Milan is in its “final steps”.

Origi will reportedly travel to Milan next week to undergo his medical before penning a contract at the San Siro.

A week ago, Jurgen Klopp that the 27-year-old would be leaving at the end of the season.

Origi, whose contract expires in June, has earned cult-hero status at Liverpool since his 2015 arrival.

Despite being a peripheral player for much of his time at Anfield, he has weighed in with several iconic goals.

Origi netted a brace for Liverpool in the iconic comeback win over Barcelona in the 2018-19 Champions League semi-final second leg.

The Belgian also scored in the final against Tottenham, and also struck a stoppage-time winner against Everton in 2019.

However, Origi has continued to struggle for game time at Anfield.

And Luis Diaz’s arrival in January pushed him further down the pecking order.

Therefore, it’s not surprising that Origi has decided to head elsewhere in search of first-team football.

During his time at Liverpool, Origi has won the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

He has also lifted the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. 

Origi is set to link up with a Milan side fresh off winning the Serie A title in 2021-22.

Sadly, he will not play in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

As per , Origi picked up a muscle injury during a training session.

The forward was given an emotional farewell at Anfield after their final Premier League game, against Wolves.
