Ferdinand reacts to Romano tweet on Arsenal target Rashford
Rio Ferdinand that he cannot believe the claim made by Fabrizio Romano concerning the future of Marcus Rashford amid claims that Arsenal are monitoring his situation.
Rashford’s future has become a real talking point as he continues to struggle for game-time with Manchester United. He did not start the Manchester derby on Sunday despite Ralf Rangnick not picking a natural striker in his lineup.

Reports claimed that Arsenal are amongst the clubs monitoring Rashford’s situation. Mikel Arteta’s men will undoubtedly be on the lookout for a new striker at the end of the season.
And Romano was amongst those to report on Rashford’s predicament. The journalist suggested that he is concerned about his lack of game-time and now considering his future.

He noted that his information had come from a source close to the forward…
Marcus Rashford is considering his future. He’s concerned about his lack of game time, source close to Man Utd forward tell me – he’s always been professional but he wants clarity. 🔴🏴

Ferdinand was clearly reluctant to accept that the news had come from those close to Rashford. And he suggested that he could not believe that it had come to this with the 24-year-old.
“Fabrizio’s not normally wrong by the way. That’s thrown me, I’ve got to be honest,” . “If that’s real, I can’t believe it’s real.
“You can only talk like that when you’re playing well. You can only talk like that when you’re putting in a consistent performance and banging balls into the back of the net. And Marcus isn’t doing that right now. He hasn’t played well for a little while now. He doesn’t look happy at United, I’ve got to be honest.
“I don’t know where that information has come from. But I hope that hasn’t come from Marcus’ camp because I’d be embarrassed.”
Arsenal should be wary of putting too much stock in Rashford interest
It would still be a huge surprise to see Rashford leave Old Trafford this summer. He has made nearly 300 appearances for the club in all competitions. And he should not even be at his peak for another couple of years.
Arsenal will surely think that a move is unlikely. What will certainly not help is that Manchester United still need to address who will replace Rangnick next season.
That may only become apparent in the summer. And with that, Arsenal need to make preparations to look elsewhere.
Arsenal would be wise to continue monitoring Rashford while his future is uncertain. But surely, the smart money would still suggest that he will still be a Manchester United player next season.
