Fenerbahce identify Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal and Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno as top two left-back targets
Two Premier League left-backs feature on Fenerbahce’s summer wishlist, according to reports in Turkey. , Fenerbahce want Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal or Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno this summer.
Ismail Koybasi plays for Fenerbahce but he is likely to leave this summer. As a result, left-back has become a priority for the Turkish Super Lig club, who had a disappointing 2018/19 campaign.
Arsenal’s Monreal and Liverpool’s Moreno are two options. Both players could be available for Fenerbahce this summer. They are both out of contract at the end of this season.
The Gunners are thought to be working on a deal to keep Monreal for at least one more season. However, he could be considering his options ahead of next season.
Moreno is unlikely to earn a new deal at Liverpool after playing just five matches all season. The Spaniard has been out of favour for a while and needs to leave for his career’s sake.
The 26-year-old is not just a target for Fenerbahce. But Fenerbahce will hope to convince Moreno to join their rebuilding project in Turkey.
Monreal also has a number of options. The 33-year-old has played just shy of 250 games for Arsenal, including 36 this season. Under Unai Emery, Monreal has had to adjust to a left-centre-back role.
If either Moreno or Monreal leaves this summer, Liverpool or Arsenal will not receive a transfer fee due to their respective contract situations.
