Fenerbahce fans send message to Wolves after Vitor Pereira confirmed as new Molineux manager

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the appointment of Vitor Pereira as the club’s new manager.

The 56-year-old takes over at Wolverhampton Wanderers following the sacking of Gary O’Neil, who left Molineux after the 2-1 loss to Ipswich Town last weekend.

Vitor Pereira joins Wolves from Saudi side Al-Shabab on an 18-month contract, the Premier League club said to be paying about £825,000 in compensation.

The Portuguese joins Wolves with a wealth of experience, having coached at the likes of Porto, Al Ahli, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, 1860 Munich, Shanghai SIPG, Corinthians and Flamengo.

Pereira managed Fenerbahce twice and, in wake of Wolves confirming his arrival, a number of their fans responded on social media.

Wolves told by Fenerbahce fans that Vitor Pereira is a great coach

Wolves fans were told that they’ve got their hands on a great coach in Pereira, while the club was urged to support him and let him work his magic.

A fan who replies on Wolves’ X post and tagged Fenerbahce’s handle wrote: “Greetings from Istanbul. He’s a top notch football guy and missed a lot here, wish you all the best success.”

Another said: “Great coach. Just let him rebuild the team from scratch. Support his decisions on key players if he wants to send someone out. He will replace them with better ones. Trust me.”

One said: “If you want him to succeed, don’t interfere with his work and don’t judge him – get the players he wants.

“If he cuts ties with a player, trust that he has his reasons, just support him. If he plays a right-winger as a left-back, that player might break transfer records, so be prepared.”

And another added: “Take care, he contributed a lot to Fenerbahce economically. If we were a little more patient, we would be Turkiye’s Ajax.”

Indeed, one shared a heartfelt comment: Good luck hero… With the belief and longing for the day we will meet again… We love you very much.”

What Wolves fans can expect from Pereira

Mads Davidsen, who was sporting director of Shanghai, told : “The coaching was, as we’d hoped and expected, not that far away from Andre’s (Villas Boas).

“The whole Portuguese coaching education was very strong in those years and their methodology was recognised across the world.

“So that was more or less ‘plug and play’. Compared to Andre, he probably had more defensive quality as a coach. That’s where he was really strong, whereas Andre was a bit more of a risk-taker in terms of ‘Let’s attack and see what happens’, so the game could be more open.

“So it was a good mix for us to have someone who developed the offensive side of our game and then someone who developed the defensive side, and that’s probably why we ended up winning that year because the team was more complete.

“Most Portuguese coaches are very hard-working in that they come in early in the morning and stay all day doing analysis and videos and planning. They bring a lot of energy on the pitch with really vocal and energetic sessions, and Vitor was like that. He gave it everything he had.”

Meanwhile, former Porto coaching colleague Pedro Emanuel told the same outlet.“Vitor is a person with strong ideas and a strong personality. Maybe on the first viewing of him, he looks like he’s not friendly, but he’s a fantastic guy.

“But he is also a strong personality who knows very well what he wants and he fights for what he believes.”
