Felipe Anderson must learn from the master in Eden Hazard
West Ham United ace Felipe Anderson has been accused of blowing hot and cold in his debut season in the English top flight.
The £35 million (rising to £42 million) signing from Lazio () has registered decent stats of nine goals and four assists in 36 appearances but in the eyes of some supporters, he leaves a lot to be desired.
Perhaps the Brazilian is still adapting to life in the Premier League and he will improve his consistency in 2019/2020.
On Monday night against Chelsea, Anderson was quiet for the visitors especially in the first half.
While Anderson struggled to influence the game, his opposite number Eden Hazard served up a masterclass for Maurizio Sarri’s side.
The Belgian winger bagged a brace to send the Blues third in the table, and reaffirmed his status as one of Europe’s very best.
TBR’s view
Anderson could do worse than to study Hazard’s performance in relation to his own ahead of next season.
The former Lille prospect – a £100 million+ transfer target for Real Madrid () – is at the top of his game right now, and is the player Anderson should aspire to be like.
The pair are not entirely dissimilar; both enjoy running at pace and are brilliant direct dribblers.
Where Hazard, blows everyone else away though is his use of the ball and footballing intelligence.
Sometimes Anderson can be dispossessed quite easily, but Hazard is a superb protector of the ball.
Anderson, who West Ham want to keep amid reports of surprise interest from Real (), has the potential to be top quality – to get there, he simply must study Hazard’s game and attempt to replicate it as best as possible.
