Federico Chiesa has something he wants to ‘clarify’ after leaving Juventus to join Liverpool
Federico Chiesa has officially been announced as a Liverpool player as he put pen to paper on a four-year deal at the club.
The Italy international completed a quickfire move to Anfield from Juventus for a fee believed to be in the region of including add-ons ahead of deadline day.
Chiesa becomes the first player to walk through the door at Liverpool this season, with Giorgi Mamardashvili only set to arrive at the start of the 2025-26 campaign despite officially agreeing a transfer.
The 26-year-old told that he’s ‘so happy’ to join the club, adding that phone conversations with Richard Hughes and Arne Slot were enough to convince him.
After his move to England was announced, Chiesa took to Instagram to thank the Juventus fans for their support and also confirmed that the Bianconeri didn’t offer him a new contract.

Federico Chiesa explains why he swapped Juventus for Liverpool

The Italy international says Juventus told him that he was out of their new sporting project under Thiago Motta, an episode that eventually led to his departure.
An excerpt from his lengthy Instagram post reads: “Now, while saying goodbye [to the Juventus fans], I’d like to clarify the issue of renewal.
“I never received a renewal offer from Juventus and therefore, there has never been a request from me or my entourage to increase or reduce my signing.
“I was informed that I would not be part of the project even before the start of training with the team.”
What shirt number will Chiesa wear at Liverpool?
Liverpool confirmed on their official website that their newest arrival will take the number 14 shirt, which has been vacant since former club captain Jordan Henderson left the club last summer.
Chiesa made 37 appearances in all competitions for Juventus last season and scored ten goals as they won the Coppa Italia.

The 26-year-old was also part of the Italy squad at Euro 2024 this summer as Luciano Spalletti’s side crashed out against Switzerland in the Round of 16.
Liverpool are set to Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend and it remains to be seen if Chiesa makes his debut for the club on Sunday.
