Fans react to Leeds starlet Alfie McCalmont display in Northern Ireland win
A number of fans have taken to Twitter to laud Leeds United loanee Alfie McCalmont after the midfielder shone for Northern Ireland in their win over Estonia on Sunday.
Ian Baraclough’s men won 1-0 in their friendly. Shane Ferguson scored the only goal with 14 minutes remaining.

It was a much changed side from the team that beat Lithuania in their World Cup qualifier last week. But one of those to really impress was McCalmont.
The 21-year-old was actually making his first start for his country in Tallinn. But you would have hardly known that based on his performance.
He looked incredibly confident in possession and worked extremely hard for his side as they looked to go into their clash with Switzerland off the back of successive wins.

For many, McCalmont was the standout performer on show. Of course, Ferguson is taking many of the plaudits for a stunning goal on his 50th cap.
But the Leeds man really caught the eye of many. And plenty of fans have taken to social media to laud the youngster.
McCalmont – who is currently on loan at Morecambe – looks to have a considerable task ahead trying to break into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans at Elland Road.
It is never the most encouraging sign when a member of Bielsa’s squad leaves on loan. But he is certainly doing his chances of returning to the fold next season no harm at all.
‘Excellent’: Fans laud Alfie McCalmont after Northern Ireland win
Whatever happens, there are definitely going to be a lot of caps to come for the Leeds youngster based on his display this weekend.
With that in mind, here is how some of the fans reacted to his performance…
DO NOT LOSE THIS LAD! The answer is under our nose.

McCalmont had a blinder.

One to forget apart from Fergie’s wonder strike, but great to keep a clean sheet, thats 3 in the last 5 games. McCalmont for me was our best player, good cameos from Conor Bradley and Dion Charles. Now all roads lead to Windsor on Wednesday.

Again, we will not get carried away over a friendly win, but that was a solid display with a clean sheet to boot.
McCalmont was excellent. Bradley impressed off the bench.
Brown or Flanagan for Wednesday night? I’d go Brown – but it’s a tough call for Baraclough.
— Keith Bailie (@KeithJBailie)
Alfie McCalmont the standout there. Thought the subs we made made us better as well, Charles and Bradley look like they could become real members of the squad.

How silky is Alfie McCalmont to watch, by the way?!
