Fans react to Leeds signing Dan James’ display in Wales win in Belarus

A number of fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Dan James after the Leeds United summer signing made his first appearance following his Elland Road switch – helping Wales beat Belarus on Sunday.

Rob Page’s men have put themselves in a very strong position after three games in qualifying. They sit third, one point adrift of the Czech Republic. But they also have two games in hand over the sides above.

And that comes after they came from 2-1 down to win at the weekend. Gareth Bale scored a hat-trick for the visitors.

But it was another player who caught the eye of many. And it was the player who set Bale up for the winner.

James had an outstanding all-round game in Belarus. And the 23-year-old did superbly to dig out the pass that found Bale for the decisive goal with the penalty area packed with defenders.

, James provided three key passes during the contest. No other player on the pitch managed more than one.

Remarkably, he also managed four successful dribbles and won five of the six tackles he attempted. No player could better either tally.

And his performance left plenty of supporters discussing his display on social media.

Some Leeds fans were extremely encouraged to see him shine in the defensive aspects of the game – and they are excited about what he could do under Marcelo Bielsa.
