
David Turnbull was very nearly a Celtic player this summer. to sign the Motherwell youngster was scuppered twice in June.
First of all, the two parties could not come to terms on a contract. Once that was sorted, Turnbull failed a medical and Celtic pulled the plug.
A knee injury was discovered in the Celtic medical and the 20-year-old underwent surgery in London to rectify the issue. He was ruled out until 2020 but he is making good progress in his recovery.

Turnbull suggested he was moving closer and closer to a full recovery.
“It’s been a long four or five months so far.
“I was on crutches for six to eight weeks and then after that I have just been up the gym building strength in my leg and trying to get it back to the way it was.
“The past few weeks have been a lot better, still doing my gym work on my left leg, building my strength and starting anti-gravity runs on the treadmill. So that’s been good to get back running.”

This will undoubtedly excite Celtic fans.earlier this year that Celtic will look to ‘reactivate’ their interest in Turnbull once he is returned to full fitness.
Neil Lennon is a big fan of the player, prior to the deal collapsing in the summer.
“He’s a player we’ve admired for a while. He had a great breakthrough season.
“He’s an elegant player, technically he’s very good, proficient with both feet and he scored 15 goals in 30 games, which is quite a return for a midfielder.”
Celtic will undoubtedly be ready to swoop once again when he finally does recover from his injury troubles.
Whether that is in January or at the end of the season remains to be seen.
