Fabrizio Romano’s latest comments suggest 26-year-old star’s Arsenal career could soon be over – TBR View

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Arsenal have explored the possibility of signing Leeds United star Raphinha – a player who plays in the same position as Nicolas Pepe.
The Gunners spent a lot of money in last summer’s transfer window. Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonkga, Martin Odegaard and Takehiro Tomiyasu all came in and every single one of them have impressed.
Mikel Arteta’s rebuild, however, is not complete just yet. Arsenal have a lot of work to do this summer and new additions up front, in central midfield and potentially at right-back are all a necessity.
However, if Romano is to be believed, Arsenal are targeting a wide player as well, specifically a right-winger.
Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal want a player like Raphinha
In a recent episode of his , Romano shocked everyone when he claimed that Arsenal are interested in signing Leeds star Raphinha.
He said, as quoted by TBR Football: “I can tell you that Arsenal also have asked for information about Raphinha of Leeds. We were mentioning him for Barcelona.
“Barcelona are leading the race for Raphinha. But also, Arsenal have asked for information for Raphinha, they are not leading the race. They are looking for that kind of player.
“Gakpo is a player they are following, but also Raphinha is a player they like. But it’s really complicated because Barcelona are leading the race.”

Beginning of the end for Nicolas Pepe?
Arsenal spent a lot of money on Nicolas Pepe in 2019 but the Ivorian is nowhere near the top of Mikel Arteta’s pecking order.
Bukayo Saka has made the right-wing his own over the last two years and that will not change anytime soon. He’s the undisputed starter there for Arsenal and that has pushed Pepe away from the starting eleven.
If Romano is right and Arsenal are looking for a player like Raphinha – a tricky left-footed right-winger, that’s bad news for 26-year-old Pepe, who will then fall further down in the pecking order.
It will be really interesting to see what happens with Pepe this summer but early signs show that his Arsenal career could soon be over.
