Fabrizio Romano’s late-night transfer update will stun the Celtic supporters

The Celtic supporters have been getting impatient at the lack of transfer activity over the past couple of weeks.

After listening to Brendan Rodgers speak about adding quality for months now, the fans went into the January window with high expectations.

One player that had been continually linked to the club is former Dutch u21 striker, Sydney van Hooijdonk.

TBR Celtic told yesterday how transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, told how there was ‘concrete interest‘ from the Parkhead club.

We also told how Mark Guidi shared that Celtic are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old so there was a real sense amongst the fans that van Hooijdonk could be the second addition of the transfer window.

In fact, speculation surrounding Celtic’s interest has been going on since November so it did seem like the club did hold a very healthy interest in the youngster.

But now that seems not to be the case.

Sydney van Hooijdonk will not be joining Celtic

In an update that will leave the Celtic supporters stunned, Romano told on last night that the Dutch striker has agreed a deal to join Norwich City.

Roman said, “Norwich have agreed a deal to sign Sydney van Hooijdonk — loan until the end of the season from Bologna.

“Dutch striker will complete medical tests and sign the contract on Wednesday.

“Understand deal includes buy option clause, wanted by .”

This will leave the Celtic supporters wondering who the club will turn to now. With less than 48 hours of the transfer window to go, the clock is ticking down on the window and it also ticking on the Celtic supporters’ patience.

Brendan Rodgers will need to pull something out of the hat to appease the Celtic support. Especially after their full-time reaction to the 1-0 win over Ross County at the weekend.
