Fabrizio Romano thinks Arsenal are going to sign ‘brilliant’ player before the window closes
Arsenal are expected to make at least one new signing before the summer transfer window closes.
The Gunners have strengthened their squad well this summer. They turned David Raya’s loan into a permanent deal and have also brought in Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino.
The latter two solve a lot of problems in Arsenal’s team, and they are both expected to play key roles at the Emirates this season.
Fabrizio Romano, while speaking on , has now named the player he thinks will join Raya, Merino and Calafiori at Arsenal before Friday night’s deadline.
Fabrizio Romano thinks Joan Garcia to Arsenal is ‘happening’
Arsenal fans are waiting to see their club sign a new forward before the window closes, but the priority at the moment is different.
The Gunners have had to dive into the market for a new goalkeeper now.
Arsenal accepted a bid from Southampton for Aaron Ramsdale on Wednesday, and the Englishman is expected to complete his move before Friday’s deadline.
Mikel Arteta will have to sign a replacement, and he has had his eye on Joan Garcia from Espanyol for a number of weeks.
Arsenal have reached an agreement on personal terms with Garcia, and they are now expected to hold talks with Espanyol.
If they cannot strike a deal with the Spanish side, it is expected that Arsenal will trigger the goalkeeper’s release clause to secure his signature.
Romano said: “For Arsenal, tomorrow (Thursday) could be the day for a new goalkeeper – Joan Garcia from Espanyol.
As I always told you, in case Ramsdale leaves, Arsenal will go for a new goalkeeper and the goalkeeper they want is Joan Garcia. Ramsdale is going to Southampton, £25 million, deal done, tomorrow medical and travel.
“For Arsenal, they know that they have an agreement with Joan Garcia because there is an agreement with the contract. Now, they have to sort a deal with Espanyol.
“There is a release clause. Arsenal count on the release clause as an opportunity to close the deal fast. I think Joan Garcia to Arsenal is happening.”

What Joan Garcia did on Wednesday will impress Arsenal fans
Despite all the speculation about his future, Garcia has started the season with Espanyol.
The ‘‘ Spaniard started in goal against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, and he was the star of the show in the 0-0 draw.
Atleti absolutely dominated the game. They had 25 shots at goal, seven of which were on target. Garcia saved all seven of them.
The Arsenal target was given an 8.1/10 rating by for his performance – more than any other player on the pitch.
That should impress Arsenal fans and it’s also probably why Arteta is so keen to sign him before the window shuts at 11:00 pm on Friday.
