Fabrizio Romano shares Youssouf Fofana bid update amid Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham and Manchester United links
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Manchester United are just four of the clubs that have been linked with Youssouf Fofana this summer.
In May, claimed that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners had been in talks with Monaco about signing the 25-year-old midfielder this summer.
Then, towards the end of June, claimed that Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs had become the leading candidates to sign Fofana.
More recently, West Ham were said to have submitted a bid for Fofana, while Manchester United had become a ‘serious threat’ in the race for the Frenchman.
Fabrizio Romano has now shared an update on the state of play involving Fofana, with a club having now submitted an improved bid.

AC Milan submit improved bid for Youssouf Fofana but Monaco want more
Sadly for Fofana’s Premier League suitors, the bid has come from AC Milan, who currently appear to be in pole position for his signature.
Romano has revealed that the Rossoneri have submitted an improved offer worth around £17million plus “difficult add-ons”.
However, it doesn’t look as though Monaco are fully satisfied with Milan’s offer, which is good news for the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham and Man United.
Romano claims the Ligue 1 side wants around £21.5million plus “easy add-ons” to relinquish Fofana’s signature.
Heads can be turned if clubs fail to reach agreement
Although Romano has reiterated that Fofana “wants AC Milan”, there has already been one notable example of a Premier League club signing a player in a similar position this summer.
West Ham were in pursuit of Jean-Clair Todibo, and he was keen on a move to Juventus, so for a while that transfer appeared to be a non-starter.
However, Juve couldn’t meet Nice’s asking price, which enabled the Hammers to swoop in, convince Todibo to opt for them, and sign him from under the Bianconeri’s noses.
This should give hope to the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham and Man United with regards to their pursuit of Fofana.
