Fabrizio Romano shares what Liverpool still need to do to complete Florian Wirtz deal after placing £109m bid
It seems like there is still work left to do for Liverpool to seal the deal to sign Florian Wirtz.
Liverpool were confident about signing Wirtz but quite often, such big-money deals take time to complete.
As a result, Milos Kerkez could join Liverpool before the German’s move to Anfield is completed.
However, Arne Slot’s side are working in the background to make their marquee summer signing.
Add-ons left to be finalised before Florian Wirtz joins Liverpool
David Ornstein confirmed that Liverpool recently submitted a staggering €130 million (£109.5 million) bid to sign Florian Wirtz.
Arne Slot is keen on Wirtz’s arrival and has given the Premier League champions the go-ahead to secure his services.
Wirtz is expected to join Liverpool shortly as well.
But Fabrizio Romano mentioned in newsletter that only the add-ons need to be finalised before Liverpool can wrap up a deal to sign the 21-year-old: “They’ve discussed about it.”

“But I’m told add-ons is still the main focus of the negotiations. Yes, it’s closer.”
Why Liverpool fear Martin Zubimendi repeat in Wirtz deal
Liverpool fans might be slightly concerned as last summer, Martin Zubimendi turned them down after being seemingly close to signing for them.
However, Wirtz is keen to join Liverpool whereas Zubimendi chose to stay at Real Sociedad at the time.
But even so, the Reds seem to be fearful that a repeat of the transfer could occur, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Jacobs told The Football Terrace: “Liverpool have been cautious because they still sense there is a possibility, even if it’s not likely, that Wirtz stays at Leverkusen and does an extra year and moves in summer 2026.”
“The reason Liverpool are cautious is because that’s the nature of how they do the deal, it was the same for Zubimendi. With Wirtz, it still required that club negotiation. Talks are advanced and it’s heading in a positive direction.”
Ben Jacobs concluded: “There’s a realistic chance this gets done in the 1st to 10th of June window and Wirtz becomes a Liverpool player, but there is that nagging doubt within the Liverpool hierarchy that says Leverkusen are not just going to bend over here, Leverkusen want an important fee.”
