Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s now heard about Liverpool signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle
Liverpool are being constantly linked with a move for Anthony Gordon this summer and Fabrizio Romano has now given the latest on proceedings.
Gordon🐼 has become one of the most talked about players in English football after a stunning season with Newcastle last season.
As we know, Liverpool are being linked with a move for Gordon, whoꦅ has apparently told England teammates he’ꦡd be open to the switch.
Further, reports over the weekend have claimed Liverpool have actually st𝓡arted negotiations to sign Gordon.
Ho💧wever, while those reports could well have some substance to them, Fabrizio Romano has now come along and provided another update.
And according to Romano,🌠 things aren’t quite that far down the line just yet.
Anthony Gordon not close to Liverpool just yet
Speaking in his daily briefing column for about a potential deal to bring Gordon from Newcastle to Liverpool, R♛omano offered the following update.
“L🍒iverpool tried to explore the Anthony Gordon deal in June as an opportunity but Newcastle🥃 didn’t open the door,” Romano said.
“Despite fresh speculation, I’m not aware of anything new 𓂃going on – it’s 💧still the same situation.
“Apprecia꧟tion remains but no d♌irect negotiations yet, and also at the current conditions Liverpool consider that too expensive. It’s quiet now, but we will see later in the window.”
Gordon is perfect for Liverpool despite Everton links
As yet, Liverpool haven’t made 💜a single signing for 🎀new manager, Arne Slot.
However, there is said to be a belief that Gordon will eventually end up at Liverpool and with over a month in the w✃indow left,꧂ anything could happen.
Gordon, of c♚ourse, has already had one big move in ♍his career having shifted from Everton to Newcastle for big money.
But a move back 🐻to Merseyside will appeal to Gordon and 🐻despite the crossing of the divide on display, he does very much tick boxes for Liverpool.
This, then, remains one to watch.
