Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s heard after claims Liverpool are about to make ‘crazy’ Khvicha Kvaratskhelia bid
Liverpool have been linked with a stunning late move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ahead of the transfer deadline.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting wingers in world football at Napoli and showed his class for Georgia at Euro 2024 as they made it through to the knockout stages in their competition debut.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle United were credited with an interest in Kvaratskhelia, while PSG made a move to sign him earlier this summer.
The Georgian has thus far opted to remain at Napoli, with reports stating that Kvaratskhelia rejected a move to PSG because he wants to move to England.
However, Fabrizio Romano has poured water over claims that Liverpool are preparing a crazy offer for the Napoli man.
Romano says there is nothing ongoing between Liverpool and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Romano reiterated Napoli’s stance that Kvaratskhelia isn’t for sale and played down claims that Liverpool are trying to snap him up.
“Today, we had reports in England of Liverpool preparing a crazy proposal for Kvaratskhelia and trying a sensational move,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“I have zero confirmation on Kvaratskhelia and Liverpool. Napoli have always been clear – they trust him and want to continue with him under Antonio Conte. There is nothing ongoing with Liverpool and Kvaratskhelia.”
The 23-year-old is tied down at the club until the summer of 2027, with Antonio Conte keen to work with him.
Napoli rejected a huge bid from PSG for Kvaratskhelia earlier this summer, which is a clear sign that the player is going absolutely nowhere.
Kvaratskhelia has long been linked with Liverpool
TBR Football exclusively revealed in June that Liverpool made an enquiry for Kvaratskhelia, although Napoli swiftly informed them that they have no intention of parting with their star man this summer.
Teams have been watching him closely since his exploits in Napoli’s Serie A winning campaign under Luciano Spalletti when he notched up 12 goals and 13 assists in the league.
Earlier this year, Kvaratskhelia was once again linked with a move to Liverpool, with Georgian assistant manager David Webb claiming he’s good enough to play for the club.
What to expect from Liverpool before deadline day?
Reports linking the Reds to Kvaratskhelia may be wide of the mark for now, but one of his Georgian teammates looks to be on his way to Anfield.
Liverpool are close to signing Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, although the 23-year-old goalkeeper is set to spend the current season on loan at the Mestalla.
There hasn’t been too much going on in terms of incomings aside from Mamardashvili at Liverpool.
Whether that is due to Liverpool keeping their cards close to their chest or simply due to their lack of activity in the transfer market remains to be seen.
