Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s heard about Arsenal and Nico Williams
Arsenal are likely to be busy on the transfer front in the coming days ahead of the deadline on Friday night.
𝕴The Gunners have made two additions to their senior ranks so far this summer, but there may well be more before the window shuts.
So far, Arsenal♔ have completed the signings of Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori and Spain midfielder Mikel Merino.
The Gunners have also been linked with some more attacking reinforcements, such as Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
For instance, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook suggested earlier this week that “it wouldn’t surprise me if Arsenal tried their luck for Nico Williams before Friday.”
Fabrizio Romano𝓡 has how shared what he’s heard about the Gunners and Merino’s fellow Euro 2024 winner.

Fabrizio Romano says Nico Williams to Arsenal is ‘not realistic’
🍒Sadly for Arsenal fans, Romano is not optimistic about the prospect of Williams making a late move to the Emirates Stadium.
𓆏The transfer insider, writing on , suggested that a late attacking reinforcement could be on the cards, but not necessarily Williams.
꧙“I don’t think it’s going to be a super big name like Nico Williams,” said Romano. “I don’t think Nico will be on the move.
꧙“I saw many reports this week on Arsenal and Nico Williams, but it’s not realistic at all from what I’m hearing.”
Unlikely move but nothing can be ruled out in transfer window late stages
⛎Williams is said to have a £49million release clause, which isn’t prohibitively expensive for the likes of Arsenal.
🌠However, the player seems happy to stay put at Athletic, and the Gunners may not be willing to spend that much considering they’re not exactly desperate on the flanks.
ꦦThat said, at this stage of the transfer window, things can change at the drop of a hat
🌊With that in mind, nothing can be fully discounted, and it’ll be interesting to see whether this lead does indeed develop further ahead of Friday night.
