Fabrizio Romano shares Leeds update on Azzedine Ounahi after Georginio Rutter deal
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Leeds United are thinking of signing Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi now after a deal for Georginio Rutter was reportedly finalised.
Jesse Marsch’s side are active in the transfer window, and Rutter – although not confirmed yet – is set to become their club-record signing, with reporting that a ‘total agreement’ has been reached for £35.5 million.
Up next for Leeds is Ounahi, claims Romano.

Fabrizio Romano shares Leeds update on Azzedine Ounahi after Georginio Rutter deal
Leeds are currently 14th in the Premier League table, just two points above the drop zone. It really does look like they’ll end up in another relegation battle if they don’t improve in the coming months.
Marsch, who got the Whites over the line last season, is desperate not to be in or around the relegation zone this time. That’s why he has gone out and bought Rutter, and if Romano is to be believed, they are not done just yet.
Leeds have been linked with numerous players over the last few weeks. Morocco and Angers midfielder Ounahi, who became a star at the World Cup, is one of them.
Romano revealed that initial talks between Leeds and Angers have already taken place about a potential transfer. Now, the Whites are just deciding how to proceed in the deal to sign the midfielder in the coming days.
The journalist this morning: “After Georginio Rutter deal, Leeds will decide how to proceed on Azzedine Ounahi deal as initial talks took place days ago with player side and Angers.
“There are many clubs interested in Ounahi, including Napoli which offered €15m (£13.3m) days ago. PSG will not sign him.”
TBR View:
Ounahi has become one of the hottest prospects in Ligue 1 following his performances for Morocco at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Walid Regragui’s men shocked everyone and made it to the semi-final of the competition, and Ounahi, alongside Sofyan Amrabat, were absolutely incredible in the middle of the park.
Leeds are right to target a player like Ounahi, who is still only 22 and has the potential to become a real star in Europe in the coming years. However, with Serie A leaders Napoli also interested in his services, it will not be easy for the Whites to lure him in.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the coming days. If Leeds can get him, it will be an incredible signing.
