Fabrizio Romano shares Jean-Clair Todibo transfer update amid West Ham links

West Ham United have been busy on the transfer front in recent weeks and it looks as though they’ve got a lot of business left to do.

The Hammers have brought Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman to the London Stadium this summer.

West Ham have also sold four players, with Flynn Downes, Said Benrahma, Thilo Kehrer, Nathan Trott all leaving for fees.

The Hammers continue to be linked with a host of players, including Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

Indeed, there was an exciting development earlier today, with Nice reportedly accepting a bid from West Ham for the centre-back.

However, things are more complicated player-side. Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on the state of play.

West Ham bid for Jean-Clair Todibo accepted by Nice but player wants Juventus

The transfer insider has taken to X to report that Todibo has been “very clear with Nice: he wants to join Juventus as priority” and is “currently waiting for them”.

Romano acknowledged that West Ham have had a bid accepted for Todibo, but they’re also aware that the 24-year-old is waiting for Juve, with whom he has agreed personal terms.

West Ham likely to be looking elsewhere

Although West Ham have made a breakthrough club-side, the player clearly prefers joining Juventus.

The Hammers look likely to miss out on him and, with that in mind, they’d be better off looking elsewhere.

Admittedly, there’s always the possibility of Todibo to Juve falling through, so as things stand, West Ham will probably keep an eye out on proceedings.

At the same time, the Hammers will be mindful that they’re not his first-choice, and they can’t afford to waste time in looking for more defensive reinforcements.
