Fabrizio Romano shares how safe Enzo Maresca’s job is at Chelsea now
Chelsea have gone off the rails in recent months.
Before Christmas, Chelsea were seen as title contenders, but now, the Blues are desperately trying to hold onto a potential Champions League spot.
Enzo Maresca has been questioned in recent times, while Cole Palmer’s form has been poor as of late too.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Chelsea’s struggles and Enzo Maresca’s role at the club.
Chelsea have been quick to pull the trigger on managers in the past, but according to Romano, Maresca is safe at the moment.

Enzo Maresca is safe at Chelsea
Romano shared what he knows about Maresca and his job security.
According to the journalist, Maresca retains a lot of trust from the board at Chelsea, and the message coming out of Stamford Bridge doesn’t suggest that he’s going to be sacked anytime soon.
“I want to remain in London, I keep receiving questions from Chelsea fans, let me clarify something on Enzo Maresca,” Romano said.
“What I’m hearing is that Enzo Maresca is 100% involved in every single step of the process and the project at Chelsea.
“He signed a long-term contract one year ago. I don’t have any kind of message about Chelsea looking to change the coach or going for another coach despite some questions I’m receiving from Chelsea fans.
“To change again would be really surprising and would be, in my opinion, really strange.”
Enzo Maresca compared to Mauricio Pochettino
Maresca’s job is seemingly safe at the moment, but after recent results, you have to wonder why.
Let’s not forget, Mauricio Pochettino was sacked last year despite delivering decent results, particularly in the second-half of the season.
Meanwhile, Maresca’s side are on a slippery slope at the moment, and he’s being given more slack.
The stats show that Maresca isn’t actually doing any better than Pochettino was.
Enzo Maresca at Chelsea | Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea | |
36 | Games | 51 |
17 | Wins | 27 |
9 | Draws | 10 |
8 | Losses | 14 |
47% | Win percentage | 53% |
Discounting the Europa Conference League where the level of opposition is sub-standard, Maresca really isn’t doing all that well.
Pochettino was popular with his players, and his sacking was a shock, but, if Chelsea felt like the Argentine wasn’t good enough, it’s hard to see why they’re so steadfast on sticking with Maresca.
Chelsea managers have been sacked for a lot less in the past, that’s for sure.
