Fabrizio Romano says ‘unbelievable’ Premier League player is now willing to join West Ham this summer

Chelsea and Italy defender Emerson Palmieri is now willing to join West Ham United before the end of the summer.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano told that the Hammers are preparing an opening bid to sign the left-back.

And Emerson is apparently open to making the move from west London to east as David Moyes looks to bolster his backline.

European football is back at the London Stadium this season and Moyes needs a bigger squad to balance those demands.

Emerson willing to join West Ham

Romano said: “Emerson Palmieri is considering the West Ham proposal. He has not refused and has listened to their project.

“The opening bid from the Hammers will be over £10 million.

“However, Chelsea want more than that and negotiations continue, while OGC Nice are currently quiet as they only asked for Emerson on loan.

“Todd Boehly’s preference is to sell the player.”

Thomas Tuchel labelled the Italy international an ‘‘ person during the early stages of his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

In March 2021, Tuchel : “We have three players for one position with Marcos Alonso, Ben Chilwell and Emerson. He only had the chance to show up in one cup game, which he did.

“He is training with an unbelievable effort. He is one of the nicest guys you can imagine. He’s always friendly, with unbelievable qualities. It is the perfect example.

“It is not easy because he puts his personal situation aside and he plays his role which is to give 100 per cent, be super professional and at the same time super nice. He never lets anybody down with a bad mood. This is fantastic. It is a pleasure to have him.”

That shows the kind of player and professional Moyes would be getting if a deal can be done with Chelsea before the end of the transfer window.
