Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham have sold ‘incredible’ forward to Europa League club

Tottenham Hotspur have finally got their first signing of the summer over the line and chances are they’re only just getting started.

Spurs have signed one of the best young footballers in England, bringing Archie Gray to N17 from Leeds United.

Tottenham are likely to be busy over the coming weeks as Ange Postecoglou looks to make more solid additions to his squad.

Spurs have also seen some outgoings over the past few weeks, with more expected before the transfer deadline.

Joe Rodon has joined Leeds permanently, while Eric Dier, Tanguy Ndombele, Ivan Perisic, Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon have been released.

Now, it looks as though another Tottenham player will be on the move, with Fabrizio Romano sharing an update on Friday morning.

Troy Parrott swaps Tottenham for AZ

Romano has taken to X to claim that Spurs academy graduate Troy Parrott has left the Lilywhites to join Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

Tottenham will be getting €8million (around £6.7million) from the Europa League club for the 22-year-old, added the transfer insider.

Troy Parrott bids farewell to Tottenham

Parrott is a top attacking talent who some were hoping would embark on a Harry Kane-like trajectory at Tottenham some years ago.

Back in 2019-20, plenty of fans were calling for then-Spurs boss Jose Mourinho to play Parrott during a major injury crisis up front.

Mourinho resisted those calls, which in hindsight was probably the best call, as Parrott wouldn’t have been ready to be thrown in at the deep end.

Four-and-a-half years on, Parrott has shown he has what it takes to play professional football at a good level.

The Republic of Ireland international grabbed 17 goals and five assists on loan at Eredivisie outfit Excelsior last season.

This included two hat-tricks in the relegation play-off stages of the Dutch leagues, which helped keep his team up.

Parrott’s heroics led to much interest from other teams in the Netherlands, and now it looks like AZ have won the race for the “incredible” talent.
