Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham are eyeing ‘complete’ £30m midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have improved from last season, with Ange Postecoglou doing a great job in his maiden season at Spurs.

However, there’s still some work to do at Tottenham, as shown by some poor performances and heavy defeats to the likes of Fulham and Newcastle United.

The Spurs squad will need a bit more fine-tuning over the next few transfer windows before being able to challenge for the Premier League title and impress in Europe.

And with the summer transfer window on the horizon, speculation about who Tottenham could look to sign is intensifying.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on a “” midfielder Spurs are said to be looking at ahead of the close season.

The player in question is Atalanta’s Ederson, who has been linked with Tottenham over the past few weeks.

Romano, writing on , has elaborated on Spurs’ interest in the Brazilian, but admitted that things may not be simple for the north Londoners.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Tottenham target Ederson?

“Ederson is going to be very, very difficult,” said Romano.

“Because Atalanta are already expected to sell Teun Koopmeiners in the midfield, and Koopmeiners and Ederson are the two starters for Atalanta.

“So to sell two crucial players in the same position, in the same summer, I think it’s very unlikely.

“So there is an appreciation, it’s true, that Tottenham appreciate the player, as do many other clubs around Europe.

“For example, it is the same for Barcelona and other clubs in England. But at the moment, I think it’s going to be difficult to sign the player from Atalanta.”

In terms of how much Spurs may have to pay for Ederson,  recently claimed that Atalanta have placed a £30million price tag on him.

However, Romano’s latest update suggests the Serie A club may well deem him irreplaceable for the summer, because of other potential departures.

Atalanta will not want to see their squad completely gutted over the summer, so it will complicate things slightly for Spurs and any other suitors.
