Fabrizio Romano says ‘world class’ Arsenal target is set to make transfer in the last days of the window

Arsenal are now nearing in on their second signing of this summer’s transfer window with just a matter of days remaining.

Mikel Arteta has only seen Riccardo Calafiori added to his options so far this summer but there is potential for another to be signed very shortly.

Arsenal have now reached an agreement to sign Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad with the player set to join over the coming days.

With one defender and now potentially a new midfielder in Merino being added to the Arsenal squad, a new forward may also be on the radar.

And there is one striker who Arsenal have shown an interest in this summer who is set for a decision to be made on his future ahead of next week’s deadline.

Victor Osimhen set for transfer decision as Arsenal show interest

Arsenal now look set to lose Eddie Nketiah to Nottingham Forest with a deal close to being completed ahead of next week.

And given the Gunners have suffered from a lack of reliability from their strikers, Arteta has looked to bring in a new striker this summer.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is a player of interest to Arsenal and it seems his future is set to be decided ahead of the deadline next week.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Nigeria international is now set to see a decision made on his future with a number of clubs keen.

“Also important to say, guys, in order to add more information, I see many questions on Victor Osimhen. Guys, I can guarantee to you, as I spent, I think, the last month to tell you that nothing was going to happen for Osimhen in quick time,” Romano said on his channel.

“The Osimhen topic will be clear next week in the final days of the summer transfer window. The future of Victor Osimhen, wherever it is, Chelsea, PSG, Saudi, whatever it is, is going to be clear next week. Not today. Not tonight.”

Arsenal could make a real title statement by signing Victor Osimhen

Given there was so little separating Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the table last season, the signing of a big name striker could certainly swing the balance.

Signing a player of Osimhen’s calibre could make Arsenal the real title favourites given they would be able to rely on him to return double digit goals.

Chelsea are also in the race to sign the ‘world class’ Osimhen this summer but a move to Arsenal would surely be a really exciting option for the striker.

Landing a player who has proven to be a reliable goalscorer is exactly what Arsenal need considering they only saw Gabriel Jesus score four times in the Premier League last term.

If financially viable, Arsenal could make a huge statement by signing Osimhen.
