Fabrizio Romano says ‘superstar’ Arsenal bid for now joining Premier League rivals for £25.5m

Arsenal are set for a busy end to the summer transfer window, with incomings and outgoings on the cards.

In terms of new recruits, the Gunners have signed Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and are now set to add Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino to their ranks.

Arsenal have also been busy on the outgoings front. The Gunners have already let several first-teamers leave this summer, and more could soon follow.

However, there will invariably be targets that slip through the net.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a “superstar” talent who was said to be on Arsenal’s radar is now set to join a Premier League rival.

Arsenal target Ferdi Kadioglu now set for Brighton move

The player in question is Ferdi Kadioglu, who has made a name for himself at Fenerbahce and in the Turkiye national team.

Arsenal reportedly submitted a bid for the 24-year-old back in June, but the Turkish giants rejected it.

Speculation involving the Gunners and Kadioglu then cooled down as Brighton & Hove Albion entered the race.

Now, Romano has declared “here we go” on Kadioglu to Brighton for a fee in the region of £25.5million.

The player was keen on joining the Seagulls and agreed personal terms on a five-year contract earlier in August, added the transfer insider.

Kadioglu is now set to travel to England for his medical at Brighton, who are also set to send Colo Barco on loan to Sevilla.

Arsenal may have lost interest in ‘superstar’

Arsenal certainly seemed keen on Kadioglu earlier this summer, as per reports of a Gunners bid.

However, they appear to have cooled their interest in the 24-year-old in wake of Calafiori joining the club.

Calafiori looks set to be used as an inverted option from the left at Arsenal this season.

With that in mind, Mikel Arteta may well have changed his mind about pursuing Kadioglu.

Nevertheless, the ‘superstar’ talent – as per – would’ve nonetheless been an exciting option for the Gunners.
