Fabrizio Romano says ‘really strong’ player is now in England for Aston Villa medical
Aston Villa have been very busy on the transfer front in the last couple of weeks.
The Villans have already completed the deal for Everton’s Lewis Dobbin, which also saw Tim Iroegbunam go the other way.
Villa are also likely to conclude the deal involving Douglas Luiz’s move to Juventus pretty soon. This will see the Villans receive cash and two players in exchange.
Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on that front, claiming one of Villa’s targets has just landed in England for his medical at the Premier League club.

Fabrizio Romano says Enzo Barrenechea is now in England for Aston Villa medical
The transfer insider has taken to X to claim that Barrenechea is now in England ahead of undergoing a medical booked at Villa.
The first part of the medical will be on Tuesday night, while the second will take place tomorrow, added Romano.
Barrenechea will also look to pen his Villa contract tomorrow, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2029.
Romano then concluded the post by saying fellow Juve player Samuel Iling-Junior will be undergoing his Villa medical on Tuesday.
Who is Aston Villa target Barrenechea?
Barrenechea is a talented young midfielder with his whole career ahead of him, who well and truly proved himself in Serie A last season.
The 23-year-old Argentine, who can play at No. 6 and No. 8, was at Frosinone last term, and made 36 Serie A appearances.
Former Juventus U19 coach Andrea Bonatti told earlier this year that Barrenechea is a “really strong” player.
“He’s no different from Rodri or (Sergio) Busquets,” he said. “He’s a playmaker and can also play as a midfielder now he is much more complete.
“He can do well in the Juve context, he has the potential for that level, but he will have to confirm what he is doing and it is not easy to repeat himself.”
With Barrenechea now in England for his medical, it looks as though another domino is about to fall in the deal that will see Luiz go to Juve and two of their players joining Villa.
Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen is reportedly close to joining the Villans too, and there have also been links between Unai Emery’s side and Lazio’s Luca Pellegrini.
Villa are in the Champions League next season, so they will be eager to bolster their ranks appropriately to make a good impression in Europe’s elite club competition.
