Fabrizio Romano says ‘outrageous’ player is signing for Aston Villa right now

Aston Villa have been especially busy on the transfer front over the past few weeks, and chances are they’re not finished yet.

Six new players have joined the Aston Villa ranks, with Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Samuel Iling-Junior, Lewis Dobbin, Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkley all arriving in recent weeks.

The Villans have also parted company with a further six players, testament to how keen Unai Emery is on revamping and streamlining his squad.

Douglas Luiz, Tim Iroegbunam, Morgan Sanson and Viljami Sinisalo have been sold, while Philippe Coutinho has left on loan and Calum Chambers has been released.

Now, it looks as though Villa are on the verge of making another signing, as per Fabrizio Romano’s latest post on X.

Jaden Philogene signing for Aston Villa ‘right now’

The player in question is Jaden Philogene, who is set to make his return to Villa after just 12 months away.

Villa activated matching rights for Philogene last week, something they included in the deal that saw the player join Hull City a year ago.

The deal is worth £13million, with the Villans having a 30 percent sell-on clause – another clause included when they sold him to the Humberside outfit.

Romano has now reported that Philogene is signing his long-term deal at Villa “right now”, with an announcement to follow.

Meanwhile, Amadou Onana will sign for the Villans once he’s back from his holidays, according to the transfer insider.

Villa show great foresight as Philogene set for return

Villa were in need of a new left winger after Nicolo Zaniolo’s loan spell finished at the end of the season.

Now, it looks like they’ve got his replacement in Philogene, a player they know very well and vice versa

Philogene is just 22 years old, so he’s got his whole career ahead of him, not to mention a high ceiling.

He knows the club inside out and he impressed last season, bagging 12 goals and six assists in the second tier.

Liam Rosenior called Philogene an “outrageous” talent earlier this year, and with a further 12 months of development under his belt, he looks ready for the Premier League.

Credit to Villa for inserting those clauses in the initial deal. They clearly knew what a talent Philogene was going to become.
