Fabrizio Romano says OGC Nice are trying to hijack Leeds’ move for Bamba Dieng

It seems like Leeds United were about to sign Bamba Dieng from Marseille, but that deal could now collapse after OGC Nice entered the race.
The Whites have been looking for a new striker since the start of the transfer window. After failing to secure deals for a number of forwards, it looked like they were about to succeed with Bamba, but that’s now in doubt too.
Fabrizio Romano says OGC Nice are trying to hijack Leeds’ move for Bamba Dieng
Just a few hours ago, Romano claimed that Dieng’s move to Leeds was ‘almost done’. Whites fans were delighted with that, but things may have changed now.
reveal that Nice have now tabled a bid that’s higher than what Leeds have offered for Dieng.
then claim that the ‘skilful‘ Senegal striker is at a private jet terminal at the moment, but his plane to the United Kingdom is on standby following Nice’s late offer.
It has that Dieng actually prefers a move to Nice, but Marseille would much rather sell him to Leeds United as they don’t want strengthen a direct rival.
Romano has now backed those reports and has claimed that the player is ‘not flying’ to England as things stand.
“OGC Nice are trying to hijack Bamba Dieng deal — Leeds expected him to fly there for medical but… he’s not flying to England and he’s in talks with Nice. OM, waiting for player decision,” the just a few moments ago.
TBR View:
Leeds should be really frustrated at this point.
They believed they could sign Charles De Ketelaere earlier in the window, but that move failed and the striker went to AC Milan. Cody Gakpo was another player they tried to sign this week, but he decided to stay at PSV.
Just when it looked like they’d caught a break with Dieng, things seem to be falling apart again.
However, it’s not over just yet. Dieng is yet to make up his mind, which gives Leeds some hope of securing this deal in the next few hours.
