Fabrizio Romano says ‘nothing advanced’ on Spurs-linked Marcel Sabitzer deal

Respected journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has this week offered an update on Tottenham’s proposed pursuit of Marcel Sabitzer of RB Leipzig.

The midfielder is a man in-demand after a glorious run of form has propelled the German outfit into the Bundesliga title race.

Spurs and Arsenal are said to be among the clubs keen on landing Sabitzer, who is thought to be available for less than £30m in the summer, per .

Romano, then, taking to his Twitter account yesterday, issued an update on Spurs’ pursuit of Sabitzer and insists while he is a target for Jose Mourinho, there is nothing advanced at the moment.

Spurs are thought to be keen on continuing to strengthen their squad over the coming windows, despite a summer which involved a fair amount of investment anyway.

Sabitzer, who has 44 caps for Austria, is seen as one of the top emerging midfielders in Europe by many and, at just 26, should have his prime years ahead of him, too.

TBR View: Sabitzer is perfect, especially if Winks and Alli go

Mourinho is clearly not overly enamoured with Alli and he looks likely to leave this January. Winks, meanwhile, cut a frustrated figure against Fulham and might also seek a move for his England chances.

Sabitzer, then, could well be the ideal replacement. Box to box, goals, and an influential figure, the Austrian would suit Mourinho.

The Spurs coach loves players who love winning and can drive teams forward. Sabitzer, it seems, is certainly in that mold.
