Reported Liverpool target Andrey Santos has now completed his move to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who shared a picture of the talented Brazilian midfielder and his family in London after apparently completing his move to Stamford Bridge.

Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool target Andrey Santos has just signed for Chelsea

Last month, revealed that Liverpool were among multiple Premier League clubs like Manchester City and Newcastle United interested in signing Vasco da Gama youngster Santos, but it was Chelsea who were leading the race.

The midfielder, still only 18, has already played 37 times for Vasco’s senior side and has scored eight goals. He is widely regarded as one of the most talented young midfielders in Brazil, and he would’ve been a fine talent for any club to invest in, especially Liverpool.

The Reds are in need of reinforcements in central midfield. They have been linked with numerous accomplished names over the last few months, but bringing in someone like Santos – a potential star for the future – would’ve made a lot of sense.

That’s probably why the Reds were in the race to sign him, but unfortunately for them, he has reportedly moved to Stamford Bridge.

Romano revealed on Twitter that a deal has been ‘signed and sealed’ by Chelsea, Vasco da Gama and Santos himself, who is already in London with his family. The Blues will reportedly pay a fixed fee of just over £11 million (€12.5m).

“Chelsea have completed the signing of Andrey Santos, documents are signed and sealed on both player and club side with Vasco. Here’s Andrey is in London with his family, time for the medical tests and official statement. Chelsea will pay €12.5m fixed fee,” Romano just a few moments ago.

It’s a shame that the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle United have missed out on Santos.

The 18-year-old, branded as a ‘complete’ midfielder, is a fine prospect and has all the characteristics to become a top-quality midfielder in the coming years.

His value will almost certainly shoot up too if he fulfils his potential, which makes Chelsea’s deal to get him ahead of many other clubs a really smart bit of business.

Liverpool fans, however, will not care one bit about Santos if Jurgen Klopp dives into the market and signs someone like Jude Bellingham or Enzo Fernandez instead in the coming weeks.
