Fabrizio Romano says Aston Villa have made loan offer for Chelsea player
Aston Villa are looking to bolster their ranks further in the January transfer window as Unai Emery seeks to build on their great work over the past 18 months.
Villa swooped for Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund earlier this month before signing Andres Garcia from Levante in another busy window.
With Diego Carlos having swapped Aston Villa for Fenerbahce earlier this month, Emery now finds himself needing more legs in central defence.
Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on this front, saying they’ve submitted a bid for a Chelsea centre-back who offers a “galvanising impact”.

Aston Villa submit official bid for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi
The player in question is Chelsea’s Axel Disasi, who Villa have been interested in over the past few weeks.
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey reported a fortnight ago that Villa asked about Disasi.
Now, Romano has reported that the Villans have in fact sent an “official bid” for Disasi, which consists of a loan proposal with fee and salary coverage.
“Chelsea keep working on outgoings as Aston Villa have sent official bid for Axel Disasi,” Romano wrote on X.
“Loan proposal with fee + salary coverage, up to Chelsea.”
TBR Football understands that Juventus have made an enquiry about signing Disasi from Chelsea.
What Disasi could bring to Villa
Scouting reports from France deemed Disasi a ‘complete defender’ who is ‘athletic and lively’ with a ‘very good ability to read the game’ and capable of ‘giving laser passes to break the lines’.
Meanwhile, French football expert James Eastham described Disasi as a centre-back of “immense potential” when he joined in 2023.
Eastham said on the website: “Bold on the ball, he will gallop into midfield when the opportunity arises.
“Brave when building from the back, Disasi has an eye for a sudden, line-splitting pass.
“Risky? Sometimes. Watchable? Yes. Consider his height, 6ft 3in, and noticeable athletic attributes too, and his is an exciting profile.”
He added: “Aside from his more measurable technical and physical qualities, Disasi also has the potential to emerge as a leader.
“At every juncture during his time in France, different coaches have referenced his strength of character, or lauded the galvanising impact he has on those around him.”
