Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal would actually rather re-sign one former player instead of Xavi Simons
Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with a move to sign Xavi Simons this summer.
The Dutch international has been brilliant for RB Leipzig in Germany, but he is expected to leave them for a bigger club in this window.
TBR Football confirmed that Chelsea are making progress in the deal to sign Simons, even though their first-choice target is Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers.
Arsenal also like Simons, but he is not their top target either.
Fabrizio Romano says Eberechi Eze is higher on Arsenal’s list than Xavi Simons
Eberechi Eze is a dream target for many Arsenal fans.
The ‘’ Crystal Palace star was previously on the Gunners’ books, but he was released at the age of 13. That was heartbreaking for Eze, but he has still managed to achieve great things.
Arsenal have been in talks with Eze’s camp over a move this summer, and although there has been no official bid just yet, the interest is clear.
Mikel Arteta’s side have also shown interest in Xavi Simons, and he would be a very exciting signing for the Gunners as well.
However, it looks like Arsenal have already made up their mind over who they would rather sign.
In his newsletter for , Fabrizio Romano was asked if Arsenal are still interested in signing Simons this summer.
The journalist replied: “Yes, but Eze is higher on their list, and Simons is currently in advanced talks with Chelsea.”
Arsenal already have one very clear reason to snub Xavi Simons move
Simons is a terrific player; nobody can dispute that.
The Dutchman, who can play anywhere in attack, scored 11 goals and provided eight assists for Leipzig in all competitions last season.
On his day, Simons is absolutely unplayable, and the fact that he is still only 22 means he will become even better in the coming years.
However, reports have claimed that Simons is more attracted by a move to Chelsea than Arsenal, so the Gunners should immediately stay away from this deal.
On the other hand, TBR revealed that Eze has been telling his friends that he is joining Arsenal. The Englishman has already snubbed Tottenham as well.
We think Eze would be incredible for Arsenal, but it remains to be seen if the Gunners can convince Crystal Palace to let him go.
