Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal are planning a meeting over the future of two players
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal are planning a meeting over the future of Gunners midfielders Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.
Guendouzi has been out on loan at Germany’s Hertha Berlin, where he has made 15 appearances in the Bundesliga.
Meanwhile, Torreira is currently plying his trade at La Liga table-toppers Atletico Madrid, where he has made 17 appearances in all competitions.

Guendouzi’s contract expires in just over a year’s time, while Torreira is tied until 2023, and with neither currently in Mikel Arteta’s plans, it remains to be seen what their long-term future holds.
Romano, speaking to YouTube channel, was asked about Guendouzi’s future at the club.
He said Arsenal will speak to Hertha about his situation, as well as holding a meeting amongst themselves about his and Torreira’s future.
“He will be back in the summer, they will discuss with Hertha Berlin about his future and if they will have other opportunities,” Romano said.
“We had rumours about a possibility about him leaving Hertha Berlin in January to come back to Arsenal, but it wasn’t true just because Hertha always said they wanted the player and to keep the player.
“Next summer it’s so similar to Torreira, because they want to decide next summer.
“They will have a meeting they always do this at Arsenal, and they will decide together about the future of players like Torreira and the same with Matteo Guendouzi and more, in the coming weeks we will know more.”
TBR View:
Guendouzi was frozen out by Arteta following the Brighton game last summer, and it remains to be seen whether the manager will give his player another chance once his Hertha stint comes to an end – will the Spaniard be convinced that Guendouzi will be more on his wavelength?
Likewise, Torreira seems very much surplus to requirements, and given both players are young and talented, there’s definitely some resale value should the Gunners look to move them on permanently, if Arteta decides he won’t be looking to use them in his squad.
