Fabrizio Romano says £20m player is now set to undergo medical to leave Chelsea on deadline day

It seems like a bulk of Chelsea’s transfer activity on deadline day could revolve around their outgoings.

For instance, TBR Football exclusively revealed that Joao Felix thinks his future lies at AC Milan on a loan deal away from Stamford Bridge.

Furthermore, Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign Axel Disasi.

Carney Chukwuemeka is another player who has looked like he will leave Chelsea for a while now.

Borussia Dortmund have offered to sign Chukwuemeka on loan this month.

Chukwuemeka had offers from Juventus, West Ham as well as Everton.

Chelsea star Carney Chukwuemeka set for Borussia Dortmund medical on deadline day

The £20 million () man has been a wanted man throughout the transfer window, owing to how high the 21-year-old’s ceiling is.

Borussia Dortmund were pushing to sign Chukwuemeka and it looks like they are set to sign the young midfielder on loan after all.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chukwuemeka, who was offered to Celtic and Rangers is set to join Borussia Dortmund on loan this deadline day, writing on X: “Medical today for Carney Chukwuemeka at Borussia Dortmund, all set to complete loan move from Chelsea.”

“Full salary covered by the German club.”

AC Milan were apparently interested in Chukwuemeka, with director Geoffrey Moncada being a huge fan of the former Aston Villa technician.

Even Deco reportedly eyed Chukwuemeka at Barcelona, which goes to show how much interest he has generated since being on the market.

Enzo Maresca should have given Carney Chukwuemeka a chance at Chelsea

It was a surprise to discover that Enzo Maresca never really fancied the Englishman, who has made a mere five appearances for Chelsea this season.

Chukwuemeka is a top-class talent, capable of creating a moment of magic while being a brilliant carrier of the ball, technically gifted and physically imposing.

If the former Leicester City boss’ decision to consistently exclude the highly-rated powerhouse out of his matchday squads strictly came down to his displays, perhaps the decision to let him go would have made far more sense.

But instead, Chukwuemeka, who was expected to shine under Maresca was not given a chance to showcase his quality under the Italian tactician.

The Dortmund-bound youngster will be leaving Cobham with a point to prove at Germany, fully knowing he could have helped Enzo Maresca by being an option as a number 10 and in central midfield.

But Maresca has stood by his decision and he will be focused on ensuring Chelsea get into the top four after Manchester City’s 5-1 thrashing against Arsenal, starting with the Blues’ upcoming London Derby against West Ham.
