Fabrizio Romano says £17m West Ham attacking target is now joining Champions League club
West Ham United have been fairly busy on the transfer front in the past few weeks, getting three new signings over the line.
Brazilian winger Luis Guiherme was first through the door, before veteran goalkeeper Wes Foderingham joined on a free transfer.
West Ham then bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Max Kilman.
With Julen Lopetegui taking the Hammers reins, the club’s board will be eager to give him all the tools he needs to hit the ground running.
However, in any transfer window, some targets will slip through the net and go elsewhere.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a “phenomenal” forward on West Ham’s wish list has now agreed a move elsewhere.

Georges Mikautadze picks AS Monaco over West Ham
The player in question is FC Metz and Georgia striker Georges Mikautadze, who the Hammers reportedly bid for earlier this summer.
However, Mikautadze apparently snubbed the opportunity to join West Ham, due to the fact they can’t offer European football next term.
Now, Romano has taken to X to declare “here we go” on Mikautadze to AS Monaco on a deal worth an initial £17million.
The transfer insider says a verbal agreement is in place and travel to complete the move is scheduled for Saturday, pending the signing of key documents.
Mikautadze will sign a long-term deal at the Champions League side, added Romano.
West Ham must look elsewhere but there’s plenty of time
If West Ham had managed to sign Mikautadze, they’d have landed a ‘phenomenal’ player who has a ‘genuine poacher’s instinct’ and has been in ‘stellar goalscoring form’, according to Sutirth Mukherjee of .
His record at Metz reads 64 appearances, 38 goals and 13 assists. He also has 13 goals and two assists from 29 Georgia caps, having helped his nation make history at Euro 2024.
However, West Ham’s failure to qualify for Europe appears to have cost them the opportunity to sign him, and as such, they’ll now need to look elsewhere. Luckily, they’ve still got plenty of time.
