Fabrizio Romano reveals what he has been told about Luis Campos and Manchester United

Manchester United have been linked with a move to appoint Luis Campos as their new sporting director.

The Red Devils have had a shocking first season under INEOS, but they could still end the campaign with a trophy that will help them qualify for the Champions League.

That would set United up nicely for the 2025/26 season and beyond, and the addition of a world-class director to bring in elite players will take them to the next level.

Rumours have claimed that PSG supremo Campos is in talks with Manchester United to become their new sporting director.

Fabrizio Romano has shared what he has been told.

Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United and Luis Campos are not in talks

Manchester United parted ways with Dan Ashworth in December.

Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell have taken control of the club’s transfer business since, but a renowned sporting director like Campos could make a world of difference.

The 60-year-old, who brought through players like Kylian Mbappe, Victor Osimhen and Rafael Leao among others in the past, is one of the best in the business.

If he were to join Manchester United, the Red Devils could go to the next level, not just because Campos can attract big players, but also because he has a fantastic eye for brilliant young talent.

But, unfortunately for United fans, Romano has claimed that there is nothing in these rumours.

He said about Campos in a video on his YouTube channel: “We had links with Manchester United. But, I’m told, in this moment, Luis Campos is not negotiating with Manchester United.

“That’s my information.

“In terms of links, I’m receiving many of your messages, guys, I understand the excitement because when there is a link with a director like Luis Campos, it’s normal for fans to be excited.

“We had some links to Chelsea, but Chelsea are very happy with their structure. We had links with Manchester United, but I am not aware of anything on this.”

Manchester United have already started working on the summer transfer window

It is unclear if Manchester United will appoint a new sporting director anytime soon, but they aren’t stopping their plans on the transfer front.

Wilcox and Vivell have already started working on the summer window, and the Red Devils want to secure a couple of deals in the very near future.

Manchester United are pushing to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves, and they are now in the driving seat for his signature ahead of other interested clubs.

Liam Delap is another player Manchester United have made contact to sign, and the Ipswich Town striker will be available for just £30 million following his side’s relegation.

Those two players will definitely improve United, but it remains to be seen if they can get those deals over the line in the coming weeks.
