Fabrizio Romano reveals what Arsenal are thinking about paying £42m to sign Riccardo Calafiori

Arsenal appear to be edging closer to the signing of Riccardo Calafiori.

Personal terms are said to be agreed🌼 for the Italian to head to the Emirates this summer, but there are still a few hurdles that need clearing on this front.

Indeed, Arsenal▨ still need to agree a fee with Bologna, and with the Italian club asking for €50m (£42m) that is proving to be a problem.

🌊Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has claimed that Arsenal aren’t completely sold on the idea that Calafiori is worth this much, stating that the internal belief in north London is that his pricetag has been inflated by his recent performances at the Euros.

How Arsenal view Riccardo Calafiori valuation

Romano shared what he knows about the defender.

ಌ“There’s still no agreement, why? Because Bologna insist on a €50m fee for Riccardo Calafiori,” Romano said.

🍌“Arsenal want to include add-ons in the negotiation for Riccado Calafiori. They want to make the structure different because they really appreciate the player, Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the player, but also internally at Arsenal they believe that he’s very good, very talented, but probably the price has gone up after the Euros and two or three months ago the situation was different in terms of pricetag.”

Tournament tax is affecting Calafiori deal

𒊎Arsenal are right to be wary about Calafiori’s pricetag after the Euros.

ওWe’ve seen it so many times where a player makes a big move after a good tournament and they don’t prove to be worth the money.

Perhaps the most notable example in recent years is Enzo Fernandez🌞. The Argentine is a very good player, but his performances at the World Cup saw Chelsea pay £105m for the midfielder, and after just six months playing in Europe, he certainly wasn’t worth the money.

🍎A move for Calafiori could be wise, but Arsenal need to be wary of paying too much for the player.
