Fabrizio Romano provides update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Antonio Conte
Tottenham remain interested in Antonio Conte after his Inter Milan exit was confirmed last month. The Italian gaffer is looking for a new home after Real Madrid chose to appoint Carlo Ancelotti. Spurs could be his best option. Now, Fabrizio Romano has Tweeted an update on Conte.
Conte’s decision to leave Inter is a surprise. The 51-year-old left just days after pipping Juventus to the Serie A title, ending Juve’s nine successive wins. He was said to be a front-runner for the Real Madrid job with Zinedine Zidane departing, but Madrid have decided to re-appoint Ancelotti.
That leaves Everton without a manager – and Conte is a possible contender for that job too, as per Kevin Campbell – . But Tottenham remain more likely and talks have reportedly held over the past couple of weeks. Now, Italian expert Romano has posted an update.
Romano says that talks are ongoing between Conte and Spurs – with discussions regarding contract, salary and project taking place. The journalist says that Conte remains a strong contender, with Paris Saint-Germain not allowing Mauricio Pochettino to leave the Ligue 1 side.
If Tottenham appoint Conte, would Spurs fans be happy?
Spurs fans will be very happy to get Conte. The ex-Chelsea manager’s is on the rise and if he gets money to spend by Daniel Levy – a big if – then he can really take Spurs forward.
But the romance of Pochettino returning to Tottenham will have really excited supporters. Many disagreed with his departure back in 2019, and they would love to have him back in the helm. Conte is a brilliant appointment, but Pochettino is in Tottenham hearts.
