Fabrizio Romano posts late-night update on Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo

Fabrizio Romano posted an update on Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo late on Sunday – saying a replacement will be considered before his sacking.

Reports emerged on Sunday afternoon that Nuno could be about to face the chop. That is, after a dismal home defeat to Manchester United, ending 3-0.

United, of course, came into the match lacking in confidence – having only just lost 5-0 to Liverpool. But Spurs seem flat, utterly lacklustre.

Many seem bereft of confidence. Harry Kane is not firing on all cylinders, and Son Heung-min’s form has dipped with the England skipper struggling.

With Nuno’s position under huge threat, Romano issued a near-damning update on his role as gaffer. It appears Daniel Levy is working away.

Levy is considering candidates before making a decision on Nuno, with the Portuguese gaffer “waiting”. Time will tell.

Romano on Nuno: Tottenham gaffer might be saved, but not by himself

As per Romano’s update, it could be that a lack of available candidates might eventually save Nuno. Antonio Conte remains an option.

As does Gennaro Gattuso and Paulo Fonseca. But with all three pursued as options in the summer, will Spurs look to hire them again?

Or will they look elsewhere? Right now, Spurs fans might have to put up with keeping Nuno because of a lack of available, adequate replacements.

But the chances of Nuno being sacked and Ryan Mason being placed in interim charge look unrealistic. Levy wants a replacement lined-up, first.
