Fabrizio Romano issues latest update on Aston Villa’s pursuit of Joao Felix
Aston Villa have been the biggest spenders so far this window and they aren’t done just yet.
Unai Emery and sporting director Monchi have been hard at work bringing in several players to bolster the ranks ahead of their Champions League campaign.
Amadou Onana, the £50m arrival from Everton, is perhaps the pick of the bunch and the real statement signing.
But, that deal could be trumped by the potential arrival of Joao Felix, with Romano providing the latest on Aston Villa’s pursuit.

Aston Villa still one to watch in Joao Felix race
Transfer specialist has revealed that Aston Villa remain in the race to sign Atletico Madrid playmaker Joao Felix and are one to watch.
“For Joao Felix, keep your eyes on Aston Villa because the position of Aston Villa is still there,” Romano said
“Unai Emery, the Aston Villa manager, really loves Joao Felix but it’s still not clear where Joao Felix will go, it’s still not decided, it’s still not something they decided now.”
“But let me verify, it’s not part of the story with Julian Alvarez’s negotiation.”
Difficult deal to do
Felix to Villa has been rumbling on for weeks, now, so evidently it’s a really tricky deal to do.
The 24-year-old is expected to cost around £50m and his £98,000-a-week wages (per ) will need to be covered, too.
Having already outlaid £151m this summer, it remains to be seen if the West Midlanders can take their spending past £200m.
In other news, Aston Villa could now hijack deal to sign player with 121 Premier League as interest intensifies.
