Fabrizio Romano drops fresh transfer update on Spurs defender Eric Dier

Tottenham Hotspur could be letting one of their stalwarts go this month as Eric Dier is apparently considering a move to Bayern Munich.

The Spurs defender is very much surplus to requirements under Ange Postecoglou. He has made just four appearances totalling 199 minutes this term.

Dier‘s Tottenham contract also expires at the end of the season, so the likelihood he’ll leave Spurs in 2024 is extremely high.

On Friday, reports began doing the rounds claiming Bayern are looking to make it two signings from Tottenham this season.

The Bavarians, who signed Spurs icon Harry Kane in the summer, are now apparently looking to bring Dier from N17 to the Allianz Arena.

Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg recently that Dier is keen on a move to Bayern.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on his feed. Namely, that Thomas Tuchel actually approved Dier as a target last summer.

The Spurs man is now back on their wishlist as he is considered a versatile and experienced player who can hit the ground running in the Bayern XI.

For what it’s worth, Tottenham are “open to letting him go”. However, Bayern haven’t made their decision yet. They have three options, and a decision is expected “soon”.

A great proposition for both Tottenham and Eric Dier

Well, this is a turn-up for the books, isn’t it?

Both Tottenham and Dier will no doubt snap Bayern’s hand off with regards to this potential move.

Spurs get a player surplus to requirements off their wage bill. Indeed, they might even be able to recoup some money for him.

Meanwhile, Dier would not only go somewhere where he’d get more football, but he’d be playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, with a serious chance of silverware.

This is certainly a transfer lead with legs. Let’s hope it does happen, and everyone’s happy.
