Leeds United have been linked with Everton’s Ben Godfrey in recent days.
The Whites allowed Luke Ayling and Djed Spence to leave this month, so they could do with bringing in some defensive reinforcements.
In addition, Leeds gem Charlie Cresswell is apparently amid a continued struggle for game time at Elland Road.
Earlier on Wednesday, reported that the Whites are now in talks with Godfrey over a prospective move to the Championship club.

However, Leeds aren’t alone in the race for the Everton ace. Fabrizio Romano has now reported that a Serie A club is also in talks for Godfrey.
The transfer insider took to X on Wednesday afternoon to report that Genoa have entered negotiations over the 26-year-old.
Romano’s claimed that the Italians are “considering” a move for Godfrey, and discussions are taking place.
Later on in the day, Romano that a deal between Everton and Genoa is “not easy despite interest and direct talks as there are more clubs in the race.”
Everton apparently “believe there are better proposals incoming for Godfrey in the next days,” added the Italian.
The reported Leeds target is currently out of favour at Everton, who paid a reported for him in 2020.
He has made just three appearances this term, and just one in the league.
Leeds have a bit of time to put together strong Ben Godfrey bid – TBR View
This report should certainly set off some alarm bells at Elland Road, but luckily Genoa aren’t too far ahead in negotiations.
The fact Romano suggested that Everton are expecting better proposals is also a boost for Leeds, who have some time to put together a convincing bid.
Leeds have done well in the Championship so far this season, and bringing in Godfrey would be a huge boost, as he’s very much Premier League quality.
Let’s see what happens in the coming days. Leeds could do with more defenders and, in terms of players who are available this month, Godfrey is one of the best around.
