Fabrizio Romano declares ‘here we go’ on Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur hit the ground running in the January transfer window and are set to end it on the highest possible note.
Spurs have been linked with Djurgardens midfielder Lucas Bergvall in recent days, with Barcelona also in the race for the 17-year-old.
For a little while, there were some reports doing the rounds suggesting Tottenham were behind Barca in the race for Bergvall.
Then, the state of play – as of earlier on Thursday – was that the player was deciding between Spurs and Barca.
But tonight, the big players in the football journalism business, such as David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano, have reported that Bergvall has picked Tottenham.
Tottenham Hotspur closing in on ‘elegant’ midfield talent Lucas Bergvall ahead of Barcelona
Indeed, Romano has now dropped his famous “here we go” on Bergvall to Tottenham, who will pay “more than €10million” to Djurgardens with add-ons.
The transfer insider took to to claim that Barca have “just been told from player’s camp that he changed his mind and he will join Spurs”.
Tottenham are set to pay over £8.5million to Djurgardens, with add-ons, and the agreement between the two clubs has been reached.
Bergvall’s medical ahead of his move to Spurs will take place on Friday, added Romano.
Tottenham set to sign midfielder with ‘extraordinary thinking on the ball’
Spurs are set to sign an absolute top talent in Bergvall. He is a player who Jacek Kulig of likened to Ivan Rakitic and Joey Veerman.
Kulig also described Bergvall as a player who’s “elegant on the ball with a silky touch” and “extraordinary thinking on the ball”, and gave him an 8.5 out of 10 rating with regards to his potential.
It’s worth mentioning that Tottenham aren’t in a rush to get the signing of Bergvall over the line before the deadline, hence the medical taking place on Friday when the window has closed.
For instance, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge said earlier on Thursday, as per : “An interesting one on this is that this transfer doesn’t have to happen today because that one will be for the summer.
“He would be in the academy because, as highly-rated as he is, Spurs are telling me he would be more of an academy signing. But that could get done tomorrow, hypothetically.”

Lucas Bergvall can hopefully follow in Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie footsteps at Tottenham
The key thing is that Tottenham have – according to these reports – got the deal over the line.
After beating Bayern Munich to Radu Dragusin’s signature, they’re now set to beat Barcelona to Lucas Bergvall’s signature.
Spurs have made quite a name for themselves in recent years with regards to signing talented gems and turning them into first-team stars.
Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie joined Tottenham as relative unknowns, but now they’re bona fide Premier League stars who look set for a great career in the game.
No doubt all Spurs eyes – fans and staff – will be on Bergvall until the summer, and then it’ll be exciting to see how he fares once he’s at Hotspur Way.
