Fabrizio Romano confirms £27m player is definitely leaving Tottenham despite being seen in pre-season training

Tottenham Hotspur have shifted a few players already this summer, but they need to trim a bit more fat from their squad.

Indeed, while the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Tanguy Ndombele have already left, there are some other players who Spurs need to ditch.

One player who seemingly isn’t in Spurs’ plans at the moment in Sergio Reguilon, and speaking on , Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on the Spaniard’s future, claiming that the full-back is definitely leaving Tottenham in this transfer window.

This comes shortly after the defender was ahead of the new season.

Sergio Reguilon will leave Tottenham

Romano shared what he knows about Reguilon.

“Sergio Reguilon back to Manchester United? At the moment I don’t have this one, but Sergio Reguilon has to leave Tottenham. He’s not a part of Tottenham’s plans, so Reguilon will leave this summer for sure,” Romano said.

Reguilon needs replacing

Sergio Reguilon will leave Tottenham this summer, but he will need replacing at Spurs.

Spurs are light at left-back at the moment. Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic have both left the club in recent months, and now, Reguilon is going.

Of course, Destiny Udogie will be the first choice in that left-back slot this season, but the Italian did pick up an injury towards the end of the campaign, and that proved to be a problem.

Micky van de Ven proved that he can play at left-back towards the end of last season, but, ideally, Tottenham will find a proper deputy for Udogie and Van de Ven will be allowed to play in his more natural centre-back role whenever he’s fit and available.

The man is leaving the club, but Spurs will need a new left-back in this window.
