Fabrizio Romano comments on Leeds United’s pursuit of Barcelona ace Junior Firpo

Junior Firpo is reportedly closing in on a move to Leeds United and a deal could even be completed this week. The Barcelona man is on his way to Elland Road, and Fabrizio Romano has labelled a deal “100% complete”.

Firpo, 24, joined Barcelona in the summer of 2019 from Real Betis but only managed 41 appearances for the Spanish giants in two seasons. He is back-up to Jordi Alba. Mundo Deportivo reported earlier this week that sources from both camps claim a deal could occur this week.

It sees Leeds bring in a left-back after Gjanni Alioski’s contract expired earlier this week. The North Macedonia international has an offer on the table from Turkish side Trabzonspor. Speaking about the move, Romano says it is 100% done, congratulating Radrizzani for signing Firpo.

“There are many Leeds fans in the chat – Junior Firpo. I have to say congratulations to Andrea Radrizzani,” . “He’s doing something incredible. The first season in the Premier League was amazing. Now, Junior Firpo is joining Leeds. 100% confirmed.”

Firpo signing a real coup for Leeds, as Romano claims

The fact Romano is congratulating Leeds for the signing of Firpo is a sign that Leeds are pulling off a really big statement. The left-back is a top player and to earn a move to Barcelona in the first place highlights the quality he has. It is a bargain, too.

Romano says a deal will go through for £13million plus add-ons. To get Firpo for a fee less than Barcelona paid for him is excellent work by Victor Orta. From all points of view, it is a brilliant bit of business by Leeds and fans will be hoping to see an announcement soon.
