Fabrizio Romano claims West Ham edging closer to ‘formidable’ signing
West Ham United have reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester City for the signing of Kalvin Phillips.
Some of the biggest journalists in the industry, such as David Ornstein, Florian Plettenberg and Fabrizio Romano, have been providing updates on the breakthrough.
Ornstein reported in that the deal involving West Ham and Phillips is an initial loan until the end of the season, with the option to buy.

It was initially reported that the Hammers would be getting Phillips on a straight loan, but this was subsequently changed to state that there is indeed an option to buy.
Ornstein’s report also claimed that the Hammers will cover Phillips’ salary, and that personal terms are not expected to be a problem.
Romano has followed this up to clarify that the deal definitely does include the option for West Ham to buy, much to the delight of the “many WHUFC fans asking”.
The Italian also mentioned – in his initial message on – that Phillips’ medical would take place on Wednesday.
This suggests the move is progressing very quickly and it shouldn’t be long before the player is in claret and blue.
The England international is currently flying back to England with the rest of the Man City squad from an Abu Dhabi warm-weather training camp.
West Ham strike gold with Kalvin Phillips deal – TBR View
When West Ham sold Declan Rice to Arsenal in the summer and didn’t bring anyone else in for a while, alarm bells were ringing amongst the fanbase.
However, the Hammers went on to make some superb signings in August, and by the time the window shut, their team was arguably stronger than it was at the start of the window.
Now, with Phillips reportedly set to come in, West Ham will have arguably one of the strongest midfields in the entire division.
And better still, the option to buy the ‘‘ midfielder is there.
It would’ve been a good enough deal were it just a straight loan, but the fact they can get him onto the books for after this season is outstanding news.
