Fabrizio Romano claims salary details holding Ozil’s Arsenal to Fenerbahce move up

Respected journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has claimed that a deal is not done yet between Arsenal and Fenerbahce for the transfer of midfielder, Mesut Ozil.

Speaking on his today, Romano touched on the subject of Ozil and insisted nothing is signed and sealed just yet, despite reports.

The Turkish giants have been vocal in their pursuit of Ozil, with Fenerbahce’s chairman fuelling the fire by claiming a deal will be done in the coming days. However, Romano, while admitting something is close, says nothing is over the line yet.

“The agreement on his salary is not completed yet. The staff at Fenerbahce are really confident but the agreement over the salary of the player is not done yet. They are trying, but it is not done yet. It’s not a done deal yet. He also has a proposal from the MLS, his preference is Fenerbahce but no deal is done yet,” Romano .

Ozil is no longer part of Mikel Arteta’s plans and has been left out all season by the Spaniard. DC United are the club in the USA said to be keen, while Ozil has openly admitted his admiration for Fenerbahce in recent weeks.

TBR View: A deal will get done, but Arsenal won’t want to be done over

Given everyone knows Ozil earns a wage in and around the £300k-a-week mark, Arsenal will simply not be willing to let themselves be done over in any way shape or form on this deal.

The Gunners will want those wages covered in the main, if not all. And quite rightly, too.

Hopefully for the club and Ozil, this is sorted in due course and Arsenal can finally move on from the saga.
