Fabio Paratici thinks Tottenham have a £27m defender who can be just like Giorgio Chiellini

Former Tottenham Hotspur managing director Fabio Paratici now believes the club have a defender who can be just like Giorgo Chiellini.

Having now completed two transfer windows with the club, Ange Postecoglou does now have a squad a lot more in his image.

There’s still a ton of squad building to go, but Postecoglou finally seems to have suitable options for his style of football beyond his starting eleven.

The additions of both Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner in January are already looking crucial, two very smart deals.

Werner pretty much had an instant impact whilst Son Heung-min was away at the Asian Cup and others were dealing with slight injury issues too.

And whilst Dragusin’s arrival actually coincided with Micky van de Ven and Crisitian Romero’s return, it seems we are now going to see his worth with van de Ven out again for a period.

That being said, have just shared a report providing some details around Dragusin’s start to life at the club.

Fabio Paratici thinks Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin has similar qualities to Giorgio Chiellini

The information detailed how Radu Dragusin has always idolised Giorgio Chiellini, who was a stalwart of the Juventus defence when the Romanian arrived at the club as a teenager.

Fortunately Chiellini did take Dragusin under his wing, and continues to message him advice and support today.

And to that point, Fabio Paratici did consider the new Tottenham signing to have similar characteristics to Chiellini before he signed.

Paratici saw a player with pure defensive instincts and a real hunger to improve his game.

And it does now seem that Dragusin will get the chance to show his rich ability in a Tottenham shirt.

The impressed in his minutes as a substitute against Aston Villa on Sunday, and will surely be in line for a Premier League start against Fulham this weekend.

And Postecoglou will therefore already be enjoying the success of January, able to turn to a player he sees a lot of potential in when injury strikes, rather than calling up a square peg from the past.

On that note, it’ll certainly be exciting to see what kind of profiles Tottenham do target in the summer to continue this progress.

And it seems the club’s scouts have now been intently following a 22-goal striker of late.
