‘Expected to leave’…Fabrizio Romano says £32m Tottenham is now deciding who to sign for next

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon is expected to leave this month and will now make a decision between a number of clubs.

Reguilon has dropped out of favour under Ange Postecoglou. He initially joined Manchester United on loan but is now back with Spurs after seeing that loan ended.

However, his future will not be in North London. Reguilon is expected to be shown the door, and reports yesterday claimed that a deal with Brentford is close.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, that move to the Bees is not a forgone conclusion and Reguilon apparently has a number of clubs keen on signing him.

Sergio Reguilon to decide next club after Tottenham

According to Romano, via Reguilon is a wanted man this month.

It’s claimed that Brentford have held negotiations with Spurs over a deal to bring the Spaniard in but as yet, nothing has been agreed.

Romano claims that there are other clubs keen on Reguilon as well and that, ultimately, the decision will come down to the player as to where he goes next.

His position under Postecoglou is no better, with Destiny Udogie the main man down the left and others also ahead of him.

Reguilon needs to choose carefully

It’s a bit of a shame to see Sergio Reguilon drop off like he has. At one point, when he first signed, he looked like having the potential to be one of the best wing-backs in the league.

But it’s just not worked out and the loan spell at Man United hardly did him any favours either.

It’s now crucial that Reguilon gets his next move right. He won’t want to simply drift along and fall into the abyss.

In reality, a move to Brentford would be nice for him. If that happens, then he can count himself quite lucky in getting to stay in the Premier League.
