Manchester City set to announce they’ve beaten Arsenal to first January signing
Manchester City are set to announce the arrival of English youth starlet Christian McFarlane from sister club New York City, TBR Football can confirm.
We exclusively revealed in October that City were set to seal a deal for McFarlane who was attracting interest from rival clubs including Arsenal.
However, City have made sure that they don’t lose a player who is part of their City Group Network.
City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to secure new signings this month as he looks to kickstart a second-half of the season revival at The Etihad.

Manchester City set to announce signing of Christian McFarlane
TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can reveal that 18-year-old McFarlane, who can play left-back or centre-half, is set to join City in the next week and will initially be with the club’s youth side – but TBR Football understands that he is seen as someone who can push for a first-team spot next season.
McFarlane is an England youth international.
McFarlane could be one of three defensive arrivals at the Etihad this month, as City are also hoping to tie up the signings of two other young talents in the shape of Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov and Palmeiras’ Vitor Reis.
Man City also close to signing £50m striker
In what could be a busy window for the champions, City are also looking to add strength to their attack.
Indeed, City look close to sealing a deal to sign Omar Marmoush as officials at the club push the button on a number of big-money deals.
As reported by TBR, Frankfurt had set a £50m price tag for Marmoush in the hope of putting clubs off but it appears City have decided to go all in and bring the Egyptian forward in.

Despite a terrible opening half of the season by their own standards, City are still just 12 points behind table toppers Liverpool and with a history of coming on strong in the second half of seasons, Pep Guardiola will be hoping fresh additions can help that push.
